Claudine Marzik was born in Basel, Switzerland, and migrated to Australia in 1988. She currently lives and works in Cairns.

Marzik explores the varied north Queensland environment with its dramatic seasonal changes, seeking out patterns that emerge in nature from the repetitions of line, colour and motive. These subtle painted works represent the cycle of the seasons and their effect on savannah, dry country rainforest and wetlands.

She is listed in the 2006 McCulloch’s Encyclopaedia of Australian Art and her work is featured in collections throughout Australia including the Cairns Regional Gallery, Perc Tucker Regional Gallery and the University of Queensland Art Collection. She is a grant recipient from Arts Queensland, the Queensland Arts Council and a NAVA Janet Holmes à Court Artist’s Grant, and has won several art awards interstate.

Marzik exhibits her paintings regularly interstate and overseas. One major work, acquired by the Cairns Regional Gallery, was featured in Due North - Interpretations of the Far Northern Landscape. Other paintings are included in touring exhibitions such as Fire Works - Tracing the Incendiary in Australian Art, Beneath The Monsoon - Visions North Of Capricorn (Curator Gavin Wilson) and Regarding Retro – Reanimations of the preloved (Curator Ingrid Hoffmann).
