Akiko Hanazaki was born in Japan and is now based in Cairns. Her ceramics style is influenced by various eras of Japanese pottery, and also her Grandmother – an accomplished potter back in Japan. Experimentation and innovation are key to Akiko’s practice and no two pieces are ever the same. Using a variety of styles and materials, Akiko is able to create a new contemporary aesthetic.
