Andrew Gibson 'Stories in Stone' 2020, terracotta
"Connected to the Land and Sea, we are guardians of this country. We have kept, respected and protected this land that our ancestors once walked on. We have survived, for many years, being one of the oldest living cultures in the world. When our Ancestors went out hunting they would go back and paint on the rocks in the caves as a way of telling what they had seen and hunted. It was used as a way of cultural story-telling, of recording information so that it could be passed down from generation to generation. My ceramics pieces come from these traditional stories, the beautiful rock cave paintings and the spiritual connections that span many thousands of years."
