"Our beautiful Staffy Lu-Lu discovered the ‘joy’ of Cane Toads soon after we moved to Cairns. One day we noticed Lu-Lu sitting and staring at the wall with a very strange look on her face, like she’d just eaten a hash cookie or something… We chatted with some neighbours about it and were enlightened to the fact that by licking the back of cane toads, dogs (and apparently teenagers), can ingest just enough toxin to make them hallucinate. Lulu was starting to resemble a 90’s raver at sunset, with pinned pupils, a drooling mouth and a sloppy grin. Large doses of this toxin can be fatal to dogs, but fortunately Lu-Lu is a recovered addict and no longer licks them, or not that we know of…" - Jamie Cole
