Jones Holroyd 'Prawn', 2020, ghost net, galvanized wire, aluminum wire, rope and twine, 42 x 90 x 22cm

"Prawns are abundant in our waters during the wet season. We love to go out and drag a net and catch them. We can catch many kilos in one pass. We love to eat them roasted on the coals or boiled in salt water over a fire. They make for great fishing bait. Tiger prawns are a large colourful prawn that we catch in drag nets or cast nets. They come into the shallows when we get lots of rain in the wet season. They come into the shallows to breed. Sometimes there are so many you can see a brown spot in the shallows. You can fill a whole bucket of prawns with one drag of the net. We love to cook them on the coals or boil them in water. They are a great food source."
