SALLY MORONEY is a Queensland-based artist who works with the flotsam and jetsam of the Mission Beach region. Born in the UK and now based in the Far North – Sally works from her rainforest studio situated close to the beach. Well known for blending traditional basketry techniques with one-of-a-kind found materials, one of her trademark features is the bright recycled beach rope of the Cassowary Coast Region. Moroney first began studies at the Cooloola Sunshine TAFE with a focus on Fine Arts and Ceramics. Moroney’s pieces are made with a thoughtful consideration of colour and form, and all of her works are one of a kind. Her playful use of recycled marine debris makes her works as fascinating as they are beautiful to look at.
