SALLY MORONEY is a Queensland-based artist who works with the flotsam and jetsam of the Mission Beach region. Born in the UK and now based in the Far North – Sally works from her rainforest studio situated close to the beach. Well known for blending traditional basketry techniques with one-of-a-kind found materials, one of her trademark features is the bright recycled beach rope of the Cassowary Coast Region. Moroney first began studies at the Cooloola Sunshine TAFE with a focus on Fine Arts and Ceramics. Her pieces are made with a thoughtful consideration of colour and form, and no two works are the same. This playful use of recycled marine debris makes her works as fascinating as they are beautiful to look at.
