Tegan Koster is a Cairns-based, contemporary ceramicist. All pieces are wheel thrown and uniquely detailed with hand-drawn faces depicting turn of the 20th century poet, Edith Sitwell.
Having recently discovered a familial link with Edith Sitwell, Tegan depicts simple line drawings of the poet at different stages of her life.
“I had the desire to celebrate the greatness of this literary giant by depicting her image across the pots. During her life, Edith’s image and expression of style laid bare her stark regalia and her bold opposition to the idea of ‘fitting in’. As a strong symbol of authority, eccentricity and humour, I wanted to illustrate her likeness on functional ware surfaces” Tegan Koster
