Kassandra Savage is a descendent of the Waanyi and Kurtijar people of the Gulf of Carpentaria Country of Queensland. She was born in Cloncurry in 1967. Kassandra is an Early Childhood Teacher and has been teaching for 31 years. She has taught (and supported other teachers) in many schools and Aboriginal communities including Mount Isa, Cairns, Bamaga, Injinoo, Weipa, Mapoon and Mossman. She is currently living and teaching in Mossman, on Kuku Yalanji country. Kassandra is an artist and printmaker who has experience in ink drawing, painting with acrylics, silversmith jewellery making, screen printing, photography and etching. She has exhibited and/or sold her work in Cloncurry, Mount Isa, Cairns, Melbourne, Roebourne, as well as in CIAF, Darwin Indigenous Arts Fair and UMI Arts. Recent work was selected for Vie du Pacifique international print exchange and is currently touring the Pacific regions (2021-22). She is a member of InkMasters Cairns, UMI Arts and DAB. In 2014, one of her significant achievements was a commission by JCU to create a painting – Coming Together and Respecting Difference - for their Reconciliation Action Plan. In 2015, she created artwork for JCU Cairns for a project to support the work of their Diversity Team.
