"This is the mangrove seed. There are two parts to the mangrove pods. The long green stem is the Biyudh and the bright red bud that sits on top of the Biyudh is the Kamu. Mangroves are a significant plant to me and my people. Mangrove provides for us. The Biyudh is grated to a pulp and then squeezed into a ball. It is then left in a running stream for weeks to remove the starch. It is then dried and before it is ready to consume. Kamu, the red bud. We use them as figurines while down the beach. We gather them and use them for story telling on the sand."
