Bio: Silas is a member of the Lockhart River Gang - a group of accomplished artists from the east coast of Cape York who work at the Lockhart River Arts Centre. Silas is a Kuuku Y’au / Wuthathi speaker who was born in 1978 and grew up in Lockhart River. His paintings have developed a distinctive style and imagery and his limited edition prints are of high technical quality. Silas’s work is about his country and animals and is a contemporary response to the traditional culture and isolation of his community. Silas also likes to play football and go hunting and fishing.
