Artist's Statement
The Beans grow inside a meter long pod on a vine. Once fallen from the pods the beans are washed down the creeks and rivers out to the Jalun (sea) and then washed back onto the beach with the tide. I collect them from the beach, paint them and make things with them.
The paintings on the Beans depict the moss and lichen which grow in our rainforest on the rocks and plants.
Their patterns and colours are as beautiful as the rainforest.
Madja is our language name for rainforest.
