"I was born on Thursday Island but grew up in Cairns, where I am currently based. I am a Torres Strait Islander artist with descendants from both Mer and Mabuiag Islands. The memories of my childhood, growing up in Cairns as a Torres Strait Islander, are the inspiration behind a lot of my work through story telling. I had a carefree lifestyle moving in and out of the two cultures, so this gave me a distinct edge to look at things from a visceral perspective."
