"In the context of my textile work the term THRESHOLD delves into the delicate balance between past and future—old and new. As I work with recycled and discarded textiles that were originally created to serve a specific purpose my work focuses on transformation and renewal in the physical and philosophical form. My production process involves a palpable tension inherent in the materials themselves. Pre existing textures/ colors and fabric compositions present creative challenges leading to a responsive approach as I am compelled to work within constraints beyond my choosing. Yet—through the act of making—each piece reaches a threshold of transformation as a moment where reinvention begins. These materials once integral to another life and imbued with stories of use/ wear/ memory are reimagined and repurposed. Emerging as entirely new creations—they leave the past behind and embrace the possibilities of what else could be."
