"The title ‘Blue table’ indicates the content of this work as being representative—it is in fact devoid of all representation. In this work and others produced during the period 2020/2024 I dispensed with the notion that the forms in my works represented people/ places/ situations etc.; that the content of the work reflected my lived experience as a codified language. Blue table is a key work that dispenses the idea. Blue table is indicative of the process of mark marking itself as being reflective of my lived experience. That energy—emotion and artistic concern become the driving motivation of the marks themselves.  Mark making is what makes meaning for me—allowing me to express myself. Blue table is the threshold piece that allowed giving myself permission to do work in this way. With hindsight I came to realise this work made during the pandemic reflects the uncertainty and darkness of that time and reveals my lived experience."
