"These are Tania Tocar s first experimental works branching into her own painting process outside of tuition / education. As a new resident of Gimuy / Cairns, the works are an attempt at observation of the energy and forms in foreshore areas, 'I am trying to pay tribute to nature s energy as much as to convey a visual image, as if seeing energy will ignite a sense of awe and spur action to repair the environment'. Within the process of applying pen on top of raw watercolour forms, the work explores the effect of overlay - whether the interaction tends towards a complementary relationship or whether the effect is partially obscuring. There is a tipping point between approaching ecosystems to create interest and empathy, and the restraint required to keep them intact."
