Alick Tipoti, Puru Dhangal, 2016, linocut print on paper, 200.2x100.2cm (image size), edition of 12
"This triptych of works represents the reproductive cycle of the dugong. Puru Dhangal (2016) shows the dugong mating. Kazilayg (2016) shows the pregnant dugong during the gestation period. Finally Apu Kaazi (2016) shows the mother and calf. Sageraw Thonar is the breeding period for the dugong when they can rest and feed in shallow waters. The patterns in the prints refer to the feeding grounds and traditional hunting grounds. The Guthath current is represented in all the works, flowing south-east due to the wind in Sageraw Thonar."
