"This print is titled ‘grounding’. It uses a central design, taken from one of my previous drawings, and adds other design elements around it. A story grew out of this process; an accumulation of my life’s journey, my work as an artist, and my life as an Aboriginal person. The accumulation is the custodianship and reclaiming of my Aboriginality and cultural identity. That is the grounding force that enables me to work in this space as an artist and to walk through life. The grounding force ties me back to land, story, culture; to language, song and dance. It’s a journey for me as a contemporary Aboriginal artist who didn’t have strong traditional culture as a primary experience growing up. But it’s been a journey of accumulating and gaining knowledge and experience of my traditions."
