"It's the start of the Mango Season and as an artist, the colours and stages are inspirational and captivating. Culturally it reminds me of my people's connection to Country and seasons pre-contact and that knowledge is still held and passed down today. I am keen and confident that I can still learn knowledge for both my Waanyi and Kurtijar people through conversations and connections to Country."

Kassandra Savage is a descendent of the Waanyi and Kurtijar people of the Gulf of Carpentaria Country of Queensland. She was born in Cloncurry in 1967. Kassandra is an Early Childhood Teacher and has been teaching for 36 years in many schools and communities including Mount Isa, Cairns, Bamaga, Injinoo, Weipa, Mapoon and Mossman. Kassandra is an artist and printmaker who has exhibited in Cloncurry, Mount Isa, Cairns - UMI Arts, NorthSite, Melbourne, Roebourne, CKB Art Prize, Hornsby Art Prize as well as in CIAF, Darwin Indigenous Art Fair and National Indigenous Art Fair and her work was selected for Vie du Pacifique international print exchange and toured Pacific regions (2021-22) and was shown at NorthSite. Kassandra was also part of the Spotfire print program at NorthSite Art Studios 2023 and 2024. She created and exhibited 5 new etchings with NorthSite at CIAF in 2025.
