"My family was driving from Karumba to Normanton when I spotted a flock of Korrakorr standing not far from the road. I was ecstatic as I asked my husband to stop the car and I reached for my camera. To my surprise and delight they didn’t move and I captured that moment in time on my camera and in my memory. I recently went through my hard drive and found this image and feelings of joy (and sadness) came to me. Joy because I had fund it and recreated it in my art and sadness triggered about why we were there and travelling to see my family in Normanton for “Sorry Business”. A bittersweet memory! Maybe it was to bring me some happiness at the time…. And for this moment today of recreating it. Korrakorr was my great grandmother’s totem and the Kurtijar language word for Brolga."
