"My ancestors on my Grandfather’s side are Kurtijar people. He is my mother’s father and he was born at Normanton and his mother was born on Delta Downs Station. Her totem was the Korrakorr. They are excellent foragers who eat a variety of wetland plants, insects and amphibians. Through researching (and observing) the Karrokorr, I have learnt that they are so skilled that they can forage with their head completely submerge in water. Korrakorr use their pointed beaks to dig up the ground and feed on tubers and they also use their beak like a crow bar to wedge open the ground and turn it over to search for food. Foraging in the wetlands provides the Korrakorr with a satisfying meal and provides me with some great photos and lasting memories."
