KASSANDRA SAVAGE | 'Spectacular Korrakorr' | Drypoint etching

"The inspiration I draw from the Korrakorr is as the totem of my Great Grandmother Maude and is the Kurtijan language word for brolga. Korrakorrs mate for life. I therefore pay tribute to both sets of Great Grandparents on my mother’s side. Her Father’s parents: Maude and Frederick, were married at Normanton on February 10th 1906. They only had one child; my Grandfather William and were married until Frederick passed away in 1942 and then Maude passed away in 1952. Her Mother’s parents Daisy and Scotty were married at Mapoon Mission on November 21st, 1911. They had 4 children and my grandmother, Evelyn, was their second child. Daisy and Scotty remained married for their entire life until Daisy passed away in 1974 and then Scotty in 1975. I will continue researching, connecting with family and trying to learn more about them. They are all laid to rest in Cloncurry, where I was born. These spectacular Korrakorr of my family bloodline… soul mates for life."
