BULBURA CREATIONS | 'Guided by those before me' | Mirrba (Miniature Woomera) | 2026 | Blood Gum (Yarrabah) / Dugong bone / Grass tree resin | 220 x 20 x 10 mm

For Liam, the woomera represents guidance, support and the strength of knowledge passed down through generations.

As a spear thrower, it helps carry the spear forward. Liam sees this as a reflection of his own journey — the way family, culture and connection to Country have supported him through grief, loss and the process of rebuilding himself.

The woomera reminds Liam that moving forward does not mean leaving the past behind. He carries the love and teachings of those before him into what he creates and what he shares with the next generation.
