Catherine Hunter (Kate) is a contemporary jewellery and object maker who works with metals, clay, fibres, found objects, and gems, in her studio on the edge of a mangrove estuary in Cairns, Queensland. Constructing each piece by hand, and celebrating the details, Kate’s work draws the viewer into detailed visual narratives of nature’s struggles and triumphs with an awareness of global environmental challenges. “I am attracted to shapes and patterns and love the way nature repeats in a range of places and scales.”
