ELLIS ROAD ARTS | 'Barrel Fired Vase #570' | White raku clay
Anne Jillett works as a ceramicist in her Bellenden Ker Studio. After shifting her focus from working with textiles, the experience of working with clay and living in the rainforest is starting to influence the direction and nature of her work. The phenomena of global warming and its impact on the Australian bush now occupies much of her creative endeavours. The other element which informs Jillett's work is fire. The spontaneity and unexpectedness of raku and alternate firing methods as well as working with the earth itself provide a vehicle to explore this theme.
